Apple’s September 9 “Surprise and Shine” Event Set to Reveal iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Fold
Apple’s next major product showcase is almost here. The company has scheduled its “Surprise and Shine” event for September 9 at 10 AM Pacific Time, and it is shaping up to be one of the biggest Apple launches in years.
The spotlight is expected to fall on three major iPhone announcements: the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and Apple’s long-awaited iPhone Fold. While the Pro models will likely attract the usual wave of attention from upgraders and Apple fans, the foldable iPhone may end up being the most talked-about device of the event.
Apple’s first foldable iPhone has been rumored for years, and expectations are high. One of the biggest features reportedly tied to the iPhone Fold is a nearly creaseless display, something that could give Apple a major advantage in the foldable smartphone market. Many users will be watching closely to see how the hinge, screen durability, and overall design compare with existing foldable phones.
Performance will also be a major focus. The iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Fold are all expected to feature Apple’s new A20 Pro chip, believed to be the company’s first 2nm smartphone processor. If accurate, this could bring meaningful gains in power efficiency, graphics performance, AI processing, and battery life.
Although Apple has already introduced the M6 chip, the Mac mini powered by that processor is not expected to arrive before September 22. That makes the September 9 event more focused on iPhone hardware, wearables, smart home products, and software release timelines.
Beyond the iPhone lineup, Apple may also introduce the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. These new smartwatch models could bring upgraded health tracking, longer battery life, brighter displays, and improved performance. Apple’s Watch lineup remains one of the company’s strongest product categories, so any updates will be closely followed.
The event may also include several smart home announcements. Apple is rumored to be preparing a new home hub, an updated Apple TV 4K, and possibly a refreshed HomePod mini. If these products appear, they could signal a stronger push into the connected home market, especially as Apple continues to build deeper integration between iPhone, Apple TV, HomePod, and HomeKit devices.
Software will be another key part of the presentation. Apple is expected to confirm release dates for iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, and other major platform updates. These software releases will likely bring new features, security improvements, performance upgrades, and tighter ecosystem integration across Apple devices.
Pre-orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are likely to open on the Friday following the event. The iPhone Fold, however, may be available in limited quantities at launch. Foldable devices are more complex to manufacture due to components such as the hinge mechanism and flexible display, so early supply could be tight.
With new iPhones, a possible foldable flagship, next-generation Apple Watch models, and fresh smart home devices all potentially on the table, Apple’s September 9 event could be one of the company’s most important launches in recent memory. Fans looking for the next big upgrade will have plenty to watch when “Surprise and Shine” begins.
