Industry analysts predict that the iPhone 17e will hit the market about a year from now, specifically around six months after the debut of the iPhone 17 series. This staggered release mirrors the strategy employed by Google, which typically launches its affordable Pixel A models a few months after unveiling the flagship models. The shift in Apple’s strategy comes in response to the iPhone SE’s underwhelming performance, as it constituted merely 5% of iPhone sales in 2024.
With the introduction of the iPhone 16e, Apple aims to capture the success reminiscent of the iPhone 5c from 2013. This model combines a modern design with key features of the higher-end models, but forgoes certain elements like MagSafe and the ultra-wide-angle camera. This strategic omission keeps the price point of the iPhone 16e more accessible, while still justifying a premium for the full-featured iPhone 16.
