Android 15 has made its way to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), but it wasn’t quite ready to roll out with the new Pixel 9 series. Consequently, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, with a current price tag of $1,799 on Amazon, and its non-folding counterparts have launched with Android 14, mirroring the earlier Pixel 8 series.
What’s surprising is that Google did not specify at the launch event when these latest devices would get the Android 15 update. Instead, they later announced that this year’s Pixel flagships would stick with Android 14 until October. Now, new information suggests that the first stable release of Android 15 for supported Pixel devices is set for October 15, provided no major bugs are detected beforehand.
This release will be the same Android 15 version that was publicly beta-tested over the summer, rather than the Android 15 Quarterly Platform Release 1 (QPR1), which Google is expected to start rolling out from December 2024.
Here is a list of Pixel devices expected to receive the stable Android 15 update:
– Pixel 6a
– Pixel 6
– Pixel 6 Pro
– Pixel 7a
– Pixel 7
– Pixel 7 Pro
– Pixel 8a
– Pixel 8
– Pixel 8 Pro
– Pixel 9
– Pixel 9 Pro
– Pixel 9 Pro XL
– Pixel 9 Pro Fold
– Pixel Fold
– Pixel Tablet
This upcoming update promises to enhance the user experience, bringing new features and improvements to a range of Pixel smartphones and tablets. Keep an eye out for the October 15 release, which is poised to bring a fresh wave of functionality to your Pixel device.
