AMD’s upcoming Medusa Point processors based on the Zen 6 architecture appear to be making solid progress, and the latest leaked benchmark results suggest the chips may deliver a bigger performance jump than earlier expectations.

A new Geekbench result for a 10-core, 20-thread Medusa Point engineering sample has surfaced, showing noticeably improved scores compared to an earlier listing. The chip, identified by the CPU ID 100-000001713-33_N, was tested on an AMD Plum-MDS1 platform and appears to be the same sample seen in a previous benchmark leak.

This time, the Medusa Point sample achieved 3,329 points in single-core performance and 16,555 points in multi-core performance. That is a clear step up from its earlier result of 3,174 points in single-core testing, representing roughly a 5% improvement. Multi-core performance also improved by around 9% compared to the previous score.

These numbers are especially interesting because the earlier benchmark already placed the 10-core Zen 6 APU well ahead of current Zen 5-based Strix Point chips. When compared with a typical Ryzen AI 9 365 result, the new Medusa Point single-core score appears to be nearly 35% faster. While Geekbench should not be treated as the final word on real-world performance, it does offer an early look at where AMD’s next-generation laptop APUs may stand.

One of the most eye-catching details from the latest test is the clock speed. The Medusa Point engineering sample reportedly reached a peak frequency of around 5.37 GHz, or roughly 5.4 GHz. That is already about 300 MHz higher than the fastest Strix Point APUs, which is impressive for hardware that is still in the engineering sample stage.

If these early results are close to what retail chips can deliver, AMD’s Zen 6-based Medusa Point lineup could bring a significant uplift in both single-threaded and multi-threaded workloads. That would be important for premium laptops, AI PCs, content creation systems, and compact high-performance devices where power efficiency and CPU speed both matter.

However, it is still important to keep expectations in check. Engineering samples can behave differently from final retail hardware, and benchmark results may change as firmware, drivers, and platform tuning improve. Geekbench is useful for early comparisons, but broader testing in workloads such as rendering, productivity, gaming, and AI acceleration will be needed before drawing firm conclusions.

For now, the latest Medusa Point leak suggests AMD is aiming high with Zen 6. A 10-core APU already showing strong single-core gains, improved multi-core performance, and clock speeds approaching 5.4 GHz could make the next generation of Ryzen laptop processors highly competitive when they eventually launch.

More benchmark appearances are likely to emerge as AMD moves closer to an official announcement. Until then, Medusa Point is shaping up to be one of the more exciting upcoming CPU families for users watching the future of AMD Ryzen performance.
