AMD is stepping up its game with the launch of the Adrenalin preview driver for Ryzen AI 300 APUs, aiming to give gamers a significant boost in FPS with the introduction of Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) 2 and Variable Graphics Memory (VGM).
The Ryzen AI 300 APUs, powered by the advanced RDNA 3.5 architecture, have been slowly making their way into retail markets since their launch in July. These chips already received two driver updates, enhancing game support, Anti-Lag 2, HYPR-Tune, and various AI features.
Now, AMD’s new Adrenalin preview driver is set to revolutionize gaming performance. At the forefront of this innovation is AFMF 2, a state-of-the-art frame generation technology that promises up to a whopping 78% increase in FPS for games like Cyberpunk 2077 when paired with an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. This means smoother, more immersive gameplay experiences are now within reach.
Additionally, AMD introduces Variable Graphics Memory (VGM), a new feature designed to optimize your gaming setup further. VGM allows users to allocate a dedicated portion of system memory for the integrated GPU. This isn’t to be confused with the existing ‘shared’ graphics memory; VGM enables users to ensure that the integrated GPU has sufficient memory to handle more demanding games. For instance, in a system with 32GB of system RAM, setting VGM to ‘Medium’ dedicates 8GB to the integrated GPU, with options to go as high as 16GB.
With these capabilities, users can now run games that demand higher VRAM, such as Guardians of The Galaxy, with much more ease. This boost not only facilitates faster game loading times but also improves overall performance, especially in VRAM-constrained scenarios.
To make the most out of these new features, gamers can enable AFMF 2 through the gaming tab in the AMD Adrenalin application. The HYPR-RX suite, now fully available on Ryzen AI 300 devices, ensures lag-free and fluid gameplay by also enabling Anti-Lag and offering options like Radeon Super Resolution.
With these exciting updates, Ryzen AI 300 owners can dive into a smoother and more efficient gaming experience, backed by the latest innovations from AMD. As this release is a technical preview, gamers are encouraged to provide their feedback to AMD, aiding in further refinements before the official launch. Dive in and experience the future of gaming performance with AMD’s newest technologies.
