While Intel has long been a powerhouse in the CPU market, recent trends indicate that AMD is steadily gaining ground, especially when it comes to online sales. A glance at the best-selling CPUs on Amazon reveals a surprising absence of Intel products from the top 10 list. Instead, it’s AMD that is commanding consumer attention with three generations of its processors selling at rapid rates.
In terms of popularity, AMD’s AM4 CPUs are leading the charge, with the Ryzen 7 5700X taking the crown as the top-seller on Amazon. Offering 8 cores and 16 threads, this CPU is priced attractively at around $130, making it a compelling choice for anyone looking to upgrade their system. The AMD Ryzen 5 5600X follows closely, available at a modest $105, marking one of the lowest price points since its introduction.
Interestingly, while Intel’s Core i5 13600KF once held a spot in the top 10, it has now slipped down to the 12th position. Even with a competitive price of $175, it struggles to match the demand for AMD’s offerings like the Ryzen 5 7600X, which ranks 4th and retails for around $194.
Newegg tells a similar tale, listing the Ryzen 7 9800X3D as the top seller. While Intel manages to secure a few spots in Newegg’s top 10, it’s clear that AMD continues to dominate, showcasing a mixture of innovation and market strategy that leaves Intel playing catch-up.
Globally, the momentum swings even further in AMD’s favor. In Germany, reports from retailers like Mindfactory show AMD holding a staggering 94.49% market share, with Intel barely making a dent in weekly sales. The Korean DIY market echoes this trend as well, with AMD claiming 62% of the desktop processor market—a significant increase over just a year.
All signs suggest that AMD’s current strategy and product lineup are resonating well with consumers, potentially spelling further trouble for Intel unless they can introduce a sufficiently competitive product to counter AMD’s highly successful X3D series. As consumers continue to vote with their wallets, it seems that AMD’s dominance is only set to grow in the coming months.
