Amazfit Smartwatches Gain a Suite of Fresh Features in the Latest Update

Amazfit is rolling out a fresh firmware update for the T-Rex 3 smartwatch, and it’s packed with practical upgrades for workouts and navigation. The new release, firmware version 4.8.3.5, arrives just a few weeks after the previous update and focuses on giving athletes more control during training while improving route guidance for outdoor sessions.

One of the most useful additions is expanded workout customization. With this update, T-Rex 3 owners can set preferences like the always-on display separately for each workout type. That means your screen behavior can be tailored depending on what you’re doing, whether that’s a quick indoor session or a long outdoor run where constant visibility matters more.

Indoor training gets a notable boost as well. The T-Rex 3 can now connect with FTMS-compatible rowing machines, making it easier to share and track training data such as power and distance. It also adds a helpful live view of your current heart rate zone during workouts, so you can adjust effort in the moment instead of checking your data afterward.

Navigation features also take a step forward. While using route guidance, the watch now provides additional metrics like the remaining distance plus ascent and descent from your current position to the next waypoint. These are the kinds of details that can be especially valuable for hikers and trail runners who want a clearer picture of what’s coming next on the route.

Runners and trail runners are getting more focused performance insights, too. The update adds equivalent pace information by segment, offering another way to interpret effort across varying terrain or changing conditions. On top of that, turn reminder sensitivity has been improved, aiming to reduce late alerts and make navigation prompts feel more reliable when following a route.

Finally, Amazfit says it has optimized the algorithm used to calculate VO2 Max accuracy, which should help users get a more dependable estimate of cardiovascular fitness over time.

Firmware version 4.8.3.5 is being released in phases, so availability may vary by region. Once it shows up for your device, you can install it through the Zepp app.
