Tennis tracking has finally arrived for Amazfit Helio Strap users. The latest Zepp app update unlocks a dedicated Tennis Mode for the screenless fitness band, making it easier to capture racket-sport sessions with accurate heart rate data and clear intensity visuals inside your workout profile.
Launched in June, the Helio Strap quickly won over fitness enthusiasts for its lightweight design and simple, distraction-free approach. One pain point, though, was sport coverage: it supported just 27 activities at launch, far fewer than the 177 modes available on Amazfit’s full-fledged smartwatches such as the T-Rex 3. Racket sports were among the most requested additions, so this new firmware is a meaningful upgrade.
What’s new in firmware 3.3.6.1
– Dedicated Tennis Mode: Track tennis sessions properly instead of relying on approximations. Heart rate-driven workout intensity is now displayed in the Zepp app for richer training insights.
– BioCharge algorithm optimization: Amazfit’s energy metric, designed to reflect your recovery based on stress and sleep, has been tuned to address issues like rapid overnight depletion and unexpectedly low morning scores.
– Accuracy fixes: Improvements target nighttime heart rate measurements, inflated calorie counts during workouts, and step miscounts when swimming or cycling.
– UI and stability tweaks: General refinements for a smoother app experience.
Update details and requirements
– Firmware version: 3.3.6.1
– Zepp app version required: 9.13.0 or newer
– Download size: approximately 3.4 MB
How to get the update
Open the Zepp app, ensure you’re on version 9.13.0 or later, then check for device updates for your Helio Strap. Keep the band close to your phone and maintain sufficient battery during the install.
Why this matters
– Better tennis tracking: More precise session logging and intensity feedback help you train smarter on the court.
– More reliable recovery insights: The enhanced BioCharge algorithm should offer a steadier, more believable energy score tied to your sleep and stress patterns.
– Improved accuracy across activities: Fixes to heart rate, calories, and steps benefit everyday workouts, not just tennis.
The Amazfit Helio Strap remains a compelling option for athletes who prefer a minimalist, screen-free wearable without ongoing fees. There’s no subscription required, and the fitness tracker is available for a one-time purchase at around $99 from major retailers.
