Acer Nitro Blaze Handhelds Challenge Lenovo Legion Go with Large 11″ and 8″ High-Refresh Screens and AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS

The gaming handheld market has been buzzing with new entries, each striving to offer something distinct to capture the attention of avid gamers. Acer’s latest foray into this space is turning heads with its launch of two new Nitro Blaze handhelds at CES 2025. These devices promise to shake up the competition with their innovative features.

First up is the Acer Nitro Blaze, a device for those who appreciate power and performance. It boasts an impressive 8.8-inch IPS display with a refresh rate of 144 Hz, ensuring smooth visuals during intense gaming sessions. At its core, the Nitro Blaze packs the punchy AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS and a Radeon 780M integrated GPU. While both components might be familiar to tech enthusiasts, there’s no denying their capability when paired with 16 GB of LPDDR5x-7500 RAM, pushing the envelope on gaming performance.

The Nitro Blaze also shines with its array of connectivity options, including two USB Type-C ports (USB4 and USB 3.2) alongside a full-sized USB 3.2 Type-A port and a microSD card slot. Adding to this robust design are the Hall-effect triggers and joysticks, offering enhanced durability and customization.

Its larger sibling, the Acer Nitro Blaze 11, offers a distinct experience with a massive 10.95-inch IPS display running at 120 Hz. This model ups the ante with detachable controllers, reminiscent of Lenovo Legion Go’s approach, allowing the device to transition into a tablet for more versatility. This feature is especially beneficial for users wanting a break from holding the handheld, providing a tabletop option with its handy kickstand for wireless gameplay.

Under the hood, the Nitro Blaze 11 shares the same powerful specs as the standard Nitro Blaze, with no compromise on performance. The port selection mirrors its smaller counterpart, and the inclusion of Hall-effect components ensures prolonged lifespan and resistance to wear and tear commonly seen in gaming gear.

Having spent years exploring tech, right from customizing my Motorola Defy in high school to overclocking my Gigabyte PC’s i7 930 processor, I’ve developed a passion for products that enhance user experience across various tech domains. The Acer Nitro Blaze series is set to be a significant addition to the gaming world, marrying form with function for gamers and tech enthusiasts alike.
