33-Player Action-RPG Storms Steam with Very Positive Reviews and a 33% Launch Deal

33 Immortals launches in full with massive 33-player co-op, cross-play, and a launch discount

33 Immortals has officially reached its 1.0 release, bringing one of the most unusual co-op roguelike concepts in recent memory to a wider audience. Developed by Thunder Lotus Games, the multiplayer action RPG launched in full on June 10 for Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X/S, and Microsoft Store after spending 15 months in early access.

The game’s hook is immediately attention-grabbing: up to 33 players enter the same run as condemned souls rising up against divine judgment. Inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy, 33 Immortals sends players through a series of increasingly dangerous realms filled with enemies, bosses, and fast-paced cooperative combat.

What makes the game stand out is not just the 33-player count, but how quickly everything comes together. Each run lasts around 25 minutes, with instant public matchmaking designed to remove the usual barriers of large-scale multiplayer games. Players do not need to organize a team, schedule a raid night, or rely on voice chat to take part. The result is a compact, raid-like co-op experience that can fit into a short play session.

The full 1.0 launch completes the game’s three-world structure. Every run begins in Inferno with 33 players. From there, the group is reduced to 22 players in Purgatorio before reaching Paradiso, the newly added final realm, where only 11 players continue into the most intense stage of the run.

This shrinking-player format gives 33 Immortals a distinctive rhythm. Early encounters feel chaotic and large-scale, while later stages become tighter, more demanding, and more dependent on individual performance. It creates a sense of rising pressure without turning the game into a traditional competitive or squad-based experience.

The 1.0 update also adds a secret final boss that was kept hidden throughout early access. Alongside this major new encounter, Thunder Lotus has introduced deeper character customization, weapon balancing, enemy adjustments, and a range of quality-of-life improvements shaped by player feedback gathered over more than a year.

Another important part of the launch is cross-play matchmaking. Players across Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X/S, and Microsoft Store all share the same matchmaking pool, helping sessions fill quickly and keeping the large-scale co-op structure alive across platforms.

The game is also included with Xbox Game Pass, giving subscribers access at no extra cost. For players looking to buy it outright, 33 Immortals is currently available at a reduced launch price of $9.97 thanks to a 33% discount.

Thunder Lotus Games is best known for Spiritfarer, a critically praised title that reached millions of players worldwide. With 33 Immortals, the Montreal-based studio has taken a very different path, building its first game fully centered on online multiplayer.

Early reception on Steam has been strong, with the game nearing 500 user reviews and holding a “Very Positive” rating at the time of writing. For fans of co-op roguelikes, action RPGs, and large-scale online multiplayer games, 33 Immortals offers something rare: a fast, accessible, 33-player adventure that feels built for both chaos and teamwork.
