Tesla seems to be redefining vehicle aesthetics with its fresh take on the iconic light bar design for modern vehicles. This innovation, first seen on the Cybertruck, is now magnificently displayed on the 2025 Model Y. Thanks to contributions from Tesla’s R&D team in China, the new model is adorned with striking signature light bars and ambient LED lighting, adding a futuristic edge.
The rear light bar of the Model Y Juniper refresh boasts a unique feature that makes it stand out among the sea of similar designs, particularly those from Chinese competitors. This update presents a “single, cross-car lamp,” which is touted as the first of its kind with an indirect reflective body panel taillight. This innovative design allows light to creatively reflect off the trunk gate finish and even the road, delivering a captivating visual experience.
This attention to detail extends to the interior, with colored ambient lighting that contributes to an impressive light display. A unique aspect of the Juniper refresh is the front light bar, which can be turned off by the driver. Tesla has ingeniously incorporated the turn signals into the sides of the light bar, activated via a traditional stalk behind the steering wheel, allowing for a seamless integration without overwhelming the driver or other motorists.
Interestingly, the middle segment of the light bar, which crosses the hood over a redesigned frunk with a convenient drain plug, can be switched off to suit personal preferences. This feature is an ideal solution for those who prefer a more understated look on their 2025 Model Y. However, when desired, these lights can burst into a vibrant show, showcasing the vehicle’s advanced lighting capabilities.
The 2025 Model Y, with its Juniper refresh, is currently available for purchase in the US and is expected to hit the roads by March. This release is sure to captivate Tesla enthusiasts and those who appreciate cutting-edge automotive design.
