AMD Debunks Pre-CES RX Radeon 9070 "RDNA 4" GPUs Performance Leaks, Signals To Higher Gaming Performance 1

Bulgarian Retailer Reveals AMD’s Original Pricing Strategy for Radeon RX 9070 Series

It appears that anticipation is mounting for the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT’s official market debut as inventory has started to arrive at various AMD board partners and retailers. However, a twist in the plot has unfolded with AMD’s decision to extend its embargo, leaving these eager partners playing a waiting game until March.

In an intriguing development, a Bulgarian retailer has provided a glimpse behind the curtain of AMD’s initial plans for its RDNA 4 GPUs. This retailer, through a detailed YouTube showcase, shared insights into the PowerColor Red Devil Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU, which was displayed earlier by PowerColor at CES. Despite the extensive pre-launch preparation by AMD’s partners, official specifications and pricing details remain undisclosed.

Nevertheless, this retailer has lifted the veil on some of AMD’s initial pricing intentions. Interestingly, the Radeon RX 9070 XT was apparently slated to align closely with the pricing of the RX 7900 XT, at around $899. The Radeon RX 9070, meanwhile, was said to be eyed at a value of $749. Given the latter’s reported marginal performance edge over the RX 7900 XT, these figures raised eyebrows in tech circles.

The delay in unveiling these cutting-edge graphics cards may be tied to AMD’s strategic considerations following NVIDIA’s recent launch of the RTX 50 series, particularly the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070. AMD has reportedly delayed its GPU rollout to enhance its software stack, shifting the release timeline towards March.

As for pricing clarity, AMD’s attempt to position its 70-class cards against NVIDIA’s equivalents may lead to competitive pricing in the ballpark of NVIDIA’s lineup, which sits at around $749 for the RTX 5070 Ti and $549 for the RTX 5070. It seems AMD might seek to avoid a steep price tag for the RX 9070 series, yet speculation remains vibrant.

Interestingly, whispers of a $529 price for a Gigabyte edition of the RX 9070 XT have added more spice to the rumor mill. However, such price points are fluid and could morph into something different by the time these GPUs finally grace the market. Only time will tell what strategy AMD will adopt in positioning its eagerly awaited graphics cards.
