YouTube is testing a feature that lets creators use Google Gemini to brainstorm video ideas

YouTube is embracing the power of artificial intelligence by trialing a feature that helps content creators come up with new video ideas. This novel tool, known as Brainstorm with Gemini, aims to integrate with Google Gemini, allowing users to generate innovative concepts for videos, titles, and thumbnails. The introduction of this feature was highlighted in an announcement on YouTube’s Creator Insider channel.

As part of an exclusive, small-scale experiment, a select group of creators has been given access to Brainstorm with Gemini. YouTube is actively seeking feedback from these users to gauge the effectiveness of the tool and to determine whether it should be released on a larger scale in the future.

This feature presents a unique advantage for YouTube by providing a resource that is currently not offered by other social media video platforms. Leveraging Google’s AI capabilities within its video service can also potentially draw creators towards using Google’s AI tools over other AI offerings, such as those from OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

This isn’t the first time YouTube has experimented with AI for content creators. In May, they launched a test for an AI-powered content inspiration tool that suggested video topics tailored to a creator’s audience and helped draft an outline with key talking points. This tool aimed to streamline the content creation process for users.

Creators now have an additional option to assist with generating content ideas through Brainstorm with Gemini. It’s part of YouTube’s exploration into whether creators prefer the inspiration tool, the integration with Gemini, or both for their content ideation needs.

During the test, participating creators can navigate to YouTube Studio, enter a potential video concept into the search bar, and then choose between the existing inspiration tool and the new Brainstorm with Gemini feature. YouTube’s goal is to understand if the Gemini-based brainstorming feature provides an added benefit in the content ideation phase.

This move by YouTube is distinctive because, while peers such as TikTok and Instagram are exploring generative AI for creating digital avatars for creators, YouTube focuses on harnessing AI to bolster the content creation process itself.

For creators looking to utilize AI tools like YouTube’s Brainstorm with Gemini, it can be beneficial for ideating and expanding their content repertoire. By staying informed about such trends and new features, they can continuously adapt and find innovative ways to engage their audience through their work.
