Xiaomi’s Next Foldable Phone Could Take on Apple’s Rumored iPhone Ultra
Xiaomi may be preparing a major comeback in the full-size foldable phone market, and its next device could look very different from the Mix Fold 4. Fresh leaks suggest that the upcoming Xiaomi foldable, expected to launch under the Mix series, will introduce a completely new body design aimed at competing with future premium foldables from Apple and Samsung.
According to recent information shared by a well-known tipster, Xiaomi is moving away from its previous foldable design language. Instead of following the familiar book-style format seen on devices like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold lineup and Xiaomi Mix Fold 4, the company may adopt a more compact passport-style design. This is also the form factor rumored for Apple’s upcoming iPhone Ultra, suggesting Xiaomi may be positioning its next foldable as a direct rival.
The shift could be significant. A passport-style foldable would likely focus on better portability, a more balanced hand feel, and a design that feels less like a tablet folded in half. If Xiaomi executes this properly, the device could appeal to users who want a large flexible display without carrying an overly wide or bulky phone.
Another major highlight is the chipset. Instead of using Qualcomm’s latest flagship Snapdragon platform, Xiaomi is rumored to equip the new foldable with its own in-house processor. The company’s first premium chip, the XRing O1, was viewed as a promising step, and its successor is expected to arrive later this year. That next-generation chip, reportedly called the XRing O3, could power Xiaomi’s new foldable phone.
