Xiaomi’s Redmi K90 aims to rule the mid-range: Snapdragon 8 Elite, silicon-carbon battery tech, up to 16GB RAM

Redmi K90 series launches in China with flagship-grade power in a mid-range package

Fresh off the Xiaomi 17 flagship wave, the brand has unveiled the Redmi K90 lineup in China, introducing two models: the Redmi K90 and the Redmi K90 Pro Max. The K90 steps in as the successor to last year’s Redmi K80, a device that later reached international markets under a different name. That lineage suggests the K90 could follow a similar path, even as it targets the sweet spot of price and performance.

At the heart of the Redmi K90 is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a serious step up for a phone positioned in the mid-range. To keep performance steady under load, Xiaomi pairs the processor with a 3D vapor chamber cooling solution—good news for gamers and power users who push their devices with extended sessions.

Battery life and charging get a major boost, too. The K90 packs a sizeable 7,100 mAh silicon carbon battery and supports 100 W wired charging, designed to minimize downtime and keep you moving throughout the day.

This year’s entry-level K model also trims the display size slightly—from 6.67 inches to 6.59 inches—helping the phone achieve a more compact footprint without sacrificing screen real estate for everyday use. The result is a device that measures 157.49 x 75.25 x 8 mm and weighs 206 g, striking a balance between hand feel and battery capacity.
