Xiaomi Smart Camera C401 Launches Globally With 2K Video, 360-Degree Coverage, and AI Monitoring
Xiaomi has quietly introduced the Smart Camera C401 on its global website, expanding its smart home security lineup with a refined indoor camera designed for clearer monitoring and wider room coverage. Positioned as the successor to the Xiaomi Smart Camera C400, the new model focuses on practical upgrades such as high-resolution video, improved connectivity, and intelligent detection features.
The Xiaomi Smart Camera C401 records video at up to 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, delivering sharp 2K footage for home monitoring. This higher resolution can help users capture more detail in everyday security situations, whether checking on family members, pets, or unexpected movement inside the home.
One of the key highlights is its full pan-and-tilt design. The camera supports 360-degree horizontal rotation and a 101-degree vertical tilt, allowing it to cover large rooms without needing to be repositioned by hand. This makes it suitable for living rooms, nurseries, home offices, and other indoor spaces where wide-area visibility is important.
Xiaomi has also added smart AI-powered detection features to make monitoring more useful. The Smart Camera C401 can detect human movement, automatically track motion, and send alerts to a connected smartphone. This helps users stay aware of activity at home in real time, even when they are away.
Beyond motion tracking, the camera can recognize certain sounds, including a baby crying and loud noises such as breaking glass. These features make it more versatile than a basic security camera, especially for parents or anyone who wants extra awareness of unusual events inside the home.
The device includes a built-in microphone and speaker, enabling two-way voice communication. Users can speak through the camera using their phone, which can be helpful for checking in with children, talking to pets, or responding to someone in the room.
For storage, the Xiaomi Smart Camera C401 supports multiple options. Recorded footage can be saved to the cloud, stored locally on a microSD card, or backed up through network-attached storage. This flexibility gives users more control over how they manage their security recordings.
Connectivity has also been improved with dual-band Wi-Fi support. The camera works with both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, which can help provide a more stable connection depending on the home setup. However, like many indoor smart cameras, it still requires a wired power connection.
At this stage, Xiaomi has listed the Smart Camera C401 globally, but pricing and availability details for the US market have not yet been confirmed. Given its combination of 2K video, AI tracking, sound detection, two-way audio, and wide-angle motorized coverage, the C401 could become an appealing option for users looking for an affordable smart home security camera with modern features.
