Xiaomi Unveils Solar Security Camera Built for Remote, Off-Grid Surveillance

Xiaomi has introduced a new outdoor security camera designed for places where power outlets and Wi-Fi are not available. The Xiaomi Smart Solar Camera 4 Pro 4G Dual-Camera Edition targets remote monitoring needs in areas such as farms, construction sites, warehouses, rural homes, fish ponds, orchards, and other off-grid locations.

The biggest highlight is its combination of solar power and 4G connectivity. Instead of relying on a traditional power source, the camera uses a 9,900mAh battery paired with a 7.6W solar panel. Xiaomi says the battery can last for more than a week on a single charge, while the solar panel can keep the device powered continuously when there is enough sunlight. This makes it a practical option for long-term outdoor surveillance without frequent maintenance.

For internet access, the Smart Solar Camera 4 Pro supports dual 4G SIM cards. This allows the camera to automatically switch between mobile networks when needed, helping maintain a more stable connection in remote areas. Users can monitor live footage and manage the camera through the Xiaomi Home app, making it easier to check on property or equipment from a distance.

The camera system includes two 5 MP sensors capable of recording up to 3K video. One lens provides fixed wide-angle coverage, while the second lens is designed to follow moving subjects with AI-powered tracking. This dual-camera setup gives users both broad scene monitoring and more focused tracking when activity is detected.

To save storage and reduce unnecessary recording, Xiaomi has added a motion-activated recording mode. During quiet periods, the camera can lower the recording frame rate, then return to full-speed recording when motion is detected. This helps capture important moments while making more efficient use of storage.

Night monitoring is also supported with color night vision, white lights, and infrared illumination. These features allow the camera to record clearer footage in low-light conditions, whether users need visible full-color images or more discreet infrared recording. Two-way voice communication is included as well, allowing users to speak through the camera remotely.

Built for outdoor use, the Smart Solar Camera 4 Pro 4G Dual-Camera Edition comes with IP66 weather resistance. This means it is protected against dust and strong water jets, making it suitable for harsh outdoor environments, including rain, wind, and dusty job sites.

The camera has launched in China with a price of 649 yuan, which is around $96. Xiaomi has not confirmed whether the device will be released internationally. However, if it does arrive in global markets, the price could be higher than the Chinese launch price, possibly by around 20% to 30%.

With solar charging, dual 4G SIM support, 3K dual-camera recording, AI tracking, color night vision, and weather-resistant protection, the Xiaomi Smart Solar Camera 4 Pro 4G Dual-Camera Edition could become an appealing choice for users who need reliable outdoor security in locations without electricity or Wi-Fi.
