Xiaomi Unveils Smart Sensor That Tracks Temperature, Humidity, and CO₂ Levels

Xiaomi Smart Temperature and Humidity Monitor 3 Pro launches with CO₂ tracking and smart home control

Xiaomi has introduced a new smart home sensor in China, expanding its popular temperature and humidity monitor lineup with a more advanced model. Called the Xiaomi Smart Temperature and Humidity Monitor 3 Pro, the device keeps the familiar compact design of earlier versions but adds a major new feature: indoor carbon dioxide monitoring.

The new Xiaomi sensor is designed for users who want a simple way to keep track of their home environment. Along with displaying temperature and humidity, it can continuously measure CO₂ levels, giving households a better understanding of indoor air quality. This makes it especially useful for bedrooms, offices, nurseries, classrooms, and other enclosed spaces where ventilation matters.

Xiaomi has equipped the Smart Temperature and Humidity Monitor 3 Pro with a 3.6-inch LCD screen. The display shows key information at a glance, including the time, date, temperature, humidity, and carbon dioxide levels. The screen does not include a backlight, which should help reduce power use and extend battery life.

In terms of design, the device keeps Xiaomi’s clean and minimal style. It has a rounded square shape, a white ABS plastic body, and two buttons positioned on the right side. The monitor can be placed on a desk, shelf, or countertop using its stand. It can also be attached to compatible metal surfaces with the included magnetic accessory, making it flexible enough for different rooms and setups.

The biggest upgrade is CO₂ detection. Xiaomi says the monitor uses a new-generation Sensirion carbon dioxide sensor, allowing it to continuously track indoor CO₂ levels. High carbon dioxide levels can indicate poor ventilation, which may lead to discomfort, tiredness, or reduced concentration. With real-time monitoring, users can know when it may be time to open a window, turn on an air purifier, or improve airflow.

The Xiaomi Smart Temperature and Humidity Monitor 3 Pro also supports smart home integration through Bluetooth 5.0. When connected to a Bluetooth Mesh gateway, it can work with compatible devices through the Mi Home app. This allows users to link the sensor with smart appliances such as air conditioners, air purifiers, humidifiers, and smart curtains.

For example, the monitor could help trigger a humidifier when humidity drops too low or work with an air purifier when indoor air conditions need improvement. Users can also check historical temperature, humidity, and CO₂ data in the Mi Home app, making it easier to track changes over time.

Power comes from a CR2450 battery. According to Xiaomi, the battery can last up to one year before it needs replacing, depending on usage and connection conditions. That makes the device a low-maintenance option for users who want continuous home environment monitoring without frequent charging.

The Xiaomi Smart Temperature and Humidity Monitor 3 Pro is currently available in China for CNY 129, which is roughly $19 or €17. At the moment, Xiaomi has not announced an international release.

However, previous models in the same product family, including the Xiaomi Smart Temperature and Humidity Monitor 3 and Monitor 3 Mini, have been released outside China. Because of that, there is a possibility that the Pro version could eventually reach more markets.

With its affordable price, clean design, CO₂ monitoring, Bluetooth Mesh support, and Mi Home smart automation features, the Xiaomi Smart Temperature and Humidity Monitor 3 Pro could become an appealing option for anyone looking to improve indoor comfort and keep a closer eye on air quality.
