Xiaomi has unveiled its latest innovation in China: the Xiaomi Sports Walkie Talkie. This device is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy activities such as cycling, hiking, and skiing. What sets this gadget apart is its impressive support for 4G networks across three major operators in China, offering an astonishing communication range of up to 5,000 kilometers (3,107 miles).
Designed for both one-to-one and group communications, the walkie-talkie also supports voice calls, making it versatile for different scenarios. Xiaomi has integrated advanced noise reduction technology, ensuring clear communication even while skiing at speeds of up to 60 kph (37 mph) or cycling at 40 kph (25 mph). The accompanying app enhances the user experience by allowing group setup, sharing locations with friends, and triggering an alarm to locate the device if misplaced. A convenient feature is a glove-friendly button next to the multi-functional knob, allowing for quick and effortless group formation.
The walkie-talkie boasts an integrated display that shows the status and battery level of the device. With Bluetooth capabilities, users can enjoy music and talk simultaneously, offering a seamless experience. The device is powered by a 1,030 mAh battery, providing up to 24 hours of continuous use, or can stay on standby for 36 hours. Designed with practicality in mind, the gadget includes a variety of magnetic straps and clips, making it easy to attach to helmets, jackets, or even wear around the neck with a lanyard.
Compact in size, the device measures just 55 mm (approximately 2.2 inches) in width, and is built to operate in extreme temperatures as low as -30°C (-22°F). The Xiaomi Sports Walkie Talkie is set to hit the Chinese market on January 6th with a retail price of CNY 399 (around $55). However, there’s currently no information on its availability in other markets, including the US. This launch adds to Xiaomi’s reputation for innovative consumer tech, complementing products like their Portable Electric Air Compressor found on popular platforms.
