Xiaomi Mijia Desktop Photo Printer 2 launches with Bluetooth 5.2 and low-cost photo printing
Xiaomi has introduced the Mijia Desktop Photo Printer 2 in China, giving users a more affordable way to print high-quality photos at home. The new model is now available through Xiaomi’s Youpin crowdfunding platform, with a launch price of CNY 699, which is roughly $103.
The latest printer arrives as an upgraded version of the Mijia Desktop Photo Printer 1S, bringing improvements in print quality, wireless connectivity, and overall efficiency. For anyone looking for a compact home photo printer for smartphones, tablets, or laptops, Xiaomi’s new model is designed to make the process simpler and more convenient.
One of the biggest upgrades is the move to a 4-color dye-sublimation printing system. Xiaomi has added a dedicated black “K” layer, which should help the printer produce sharper details, deeper shadows, and more accurate dark tones. This added black channel is also expected to improve ink efficiency, since darker areas no longer need to be created by mixing other colors.
Wireless connectivity has also received a major improvement. Unlike the previous Mijia Desktop Photo Printer 1S, which relied on Wi-Fi, the new Desktop Photo Printer 2 supports Bluetooth 5.2. This allows users to connect directly to the printer without needing a shared wireless network. Xiaomi says the printer can work with phones, tablets, laptops, and other compatible devices.
Another useful feature is multi-device connectivity. The printer can be connected to several devices at the same time, making it easier for families, friends, or small teams to print photos without repeatedly pairing and disconnecting.
The Mijia Desktop Photo Printer 2 also supports multiple print formats, including square prints, 4-inch photo sheets, and 6-inch photo sheets. Xiaomi has included various templates and printing modes, giving users more creative options for albums, decorations, photo gifts, and everyday memories.
Printing costs appear to be one of the main selling points. Xiaomi claims that 4-inch photo prints can cost as little as CNY 0.99 per sheet, or around $0.15. That makes the printer an appealing option for users who want regular photo printing without high ongoing costs.
For now, the Xiaomi Mijia Desktop Photo Printer 2 is only confirmed for the Chinese market through Youpin. Xiaomi has not yet announced whether the device will be released globally, but its low price, Bluetooth support, and upgraded dye-sublimation system could make it a strong choice in the affordable home photo printer category if it reaches more markets.
