Xiaomi Redmi Watch 6 Active Launches With AMOLED Display, IP68 Rating, and Up to 18 Days of Battery Life
Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi Watch 6 Active in China, expanding its affordable smartwatch lineup with a sharper display, slimmer build, and practical fitness-focused features. The new wearable arrives as the successor to the Redmi Watch 5 Active and brings several meaningful upgrades while keeping the price accessible.
One of the biggest improvements is the display. The Redmi Watch 6 Active features a 1.85-inch AMOLED screen with a 450 x 390 pixel resolution. While the screen is slightly smaller than the 2-inch LCD panel found on the previous model, the move to AMOLED should deliver richer colors, deeper blacks, and better overall contrast. Brightness has also received a major boost, with the watch reaching up to 1,200 nits of peak brightness, making it easier to read outdoors compared to the older model’s 500-nit display.
Xiaomi has also refined the design. The Redmi Watch 6 Active is thinner and lighter than its predecessor, measuring just 9.9 mm thick and weighing only 26 grams without the strap. This should make it more comfortable for all-day wear, workouts, and sleep tracking.
Durability has been improved as well. The smartwatch now carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, meaning it can handle daily splashes, sweat, and light water-based activities such as swimming. This makes it a more versatile option for users who want a budget smartwatch for fitness and everyday use.
Battery life remains one of the key selling points. The Redmi Watch 6 Active packs a 470 mAh battery, the same capacity as the previous generation. Xiaomi claims the watch can last up to 6 days with the always-on display enabled, up to 12 days in regular use without always-on display, and up to 18 days in power-saving mode.
The Redmi Watch 6 Active also supports Bluetooth calling, thanks to its built-in microphone and wireless connectivity. Users can answer calls directly from the watch when paired with a smartphone, adding extra convenience for daily use.
For fitness and health tracking, Xiaomi includes support for up to 140 sports modes. The smartwatch can monitor heart rate, blood oxygen levels, sleep, and stress, covering the essentials expected from a modern wearable. It works with Android devices running Android 8.0 or newer and iPhones running iOS 14.0 or above.
Additional features include quick payment support, remote camera control, Apple Health compatibility, flashlight mode, phone finder, and integration with the Xiaomi Health app.
The Xiaomi Redmi Watch 6 Active is available in gunmetal, orange, and silver color options. In China, it is priced at CNY 349, which is roughly $51. For now, Xiaomi has not confirmed when or if the Redmi Watch 6 Active will launch in global markets.
