Xiaomi Set to Eliminate Charging Bricks from Packaging with Upcoming Xiaomi 14T Series

In the rapidly evolving world of smartphone innovations, Xiaomi is gearing up to introduce the much-anticipated successors to last year’s Xiaomi 13T and Xiaomi 13T Pro. As the launch of the Xiaomi 14T and Xiaomi 14T Pro draws near, excitement is building around the expected advancements, particularly the obligatory chipset upgrades. But among the buzz, a significant change has surfaced that could shift the landscape of Xiaomi’s upcoming releases.

For a while now, Xiaomi has stood as one of the few remaining major smartphone manufacturers continuing to include charging bricks with their devices. This stood in sharp contrast to industry giants like Apple and Samsung, who have opted to streamline their packaging by omitting the charging brick. Xiaomi’s inclusion of the fast-charging component has been notably beneficial, especially for models like the Xiaomi 13T Pro, which supports rapid charging capabilities up to 120W.

However, it appears that Xiaomi is set to align with the existing industry trend. Reports indicate that for the new Xiaomi 14T and Xiaomi 14T Pro, the company will no longer include charging bricks in the box. Consequently, the new models will boast slimmer retail packaging, mirroring the approach taken by Apple and Samsung in recent years.

While the expected retail price of the Xiaomi 14T series is not drastically higher than that of its predecessors, the decision to sell power adapters separately could effectively increase the overall cost for users. Currently, an official 120W charger sells for approximately €59.99 (~$67) in Europe, suggesting an added expense for those needing the high-capacity charging accessory.

It remains uncertain if this shift will extend to other forthcoming Xiaomi devices. Upcoming releases like the Redmi Note 14 series, set to debut later this month in China, and the Xiaomi 15 series, scheduled for launch in October or November, might follow this new trend. Whether this move will be met with approval or disappointment from Xiaomi’s loyal customer base is yet to be seen.

As Xiaomi prepares to usher in its next generation of smartphones, the response to their packaging changes may very well impact the brand’s reputation and customer satisfaction moving forward.
