Xiaomi Mijia Portable Coffee Machine Brings 20-Bar Espresso Power Anywhere with Built-In Battery

Xiaomi has introduced a new portable coffee maker designed for people who want fresh coffee wherever they are. Called the Mijia Portable Coffee Machine, the compact device is built for travel, camping, picnics, road trips, office use, and anyone who does not want to rely on cafés or instant coffee while away from home.

The biggest appeal of Xiaomi’s new portable coffee machine is its flexibility. It works with both coffee capsules and ground coffee, giving users the choice between quick capsule brewing and a more traditional ground-coffee experience. For those who prefer ground coffee, Xiaomi includes a stainless steel filter basket, making it easier to brew without needing disposable pods every time.

According to Xiaomi, the Mijia Portable Coffee Machine can brew a cup in around 45 seconds at 92°C. It can also be used with cold water, which makes it more practical outdoors or in situations where hot water is not available. However, battery life depends heavily on how the machine is used. If the device needs to heat the water itself, it can reportedly make only about three cups per charge. When preheated water is used and the machine only needs to power the pump, battery life increases dramatically, allowing up to 400 cups on a single charge.

The portable coffee maker features a pump rated at 20 bar. While that sounds impressive, this is likely the maximum pump pressure rather than the exact pressure maintained during coffee extraction. Even so, strong pump pressure is an important part of producing a richer coffee flavor, especially for espresso-style drinks.

In terms of size, the Mijia Portable Coffee Machine measures 71.5 x 71.5 x 245 mm, or approximately 2.81 x 2.81 x 9.65 inches. It weighs 1.05 kg, or about 2.31 lbs, making it compact enough to fit into a small backpack or travel bag. Xiaomi has also given the device an IP55 rating, meaning it has protection against dust and water splashes. That should make it more suitable for outdoor use, though it is not designed to be fully submerged in water.

The machine is currently listed through Xiaomi’s YouPin platform at around $82. At the moment, Xiaomi has not confirmed whether the Mijia Portable Coffee Machine will launch globally. For buyers in the United States and other markets, similar portable battery-powered coffee makers are already available from other brands.

With support for both capsules and ground coffee, fast brewing, a travel-friendly design, and battery-powered operation, Xiaomi’s new Mijia Portable Coffee Machine could be an appealing option for coffee lovers who want fresh coffee on the move. Its biggest limitation appears to be battery life when heating water directly, but for users who can add hot water themselves, the long pump-only battery performance makes it a much more practical travel companion.
