Oppo Reno 16 Series Lands in Europe, but Battery Sizes Take a Hit

Oppo Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro launch in Europe with 6,000mAh batteries, bright displays, and powerful cameras

Oppo has officially introduced the Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro in Europe, bringing its latest premium mid-range smartphone lineup to a wider global audience. After launching first in China, the Reno 16 series is now expanding internationally with a strong focus on camera performance, fast charging, durable design, and AI-powered features.

The European Reno 16 lineup includes several models, but the main highlights are the Oppo Reno 16 and Oppo Reno 16 Pro. Both phones arrive with sleek designs, high-brightness displays, large batteries, and impressive camera hardware, although there are a few differences compared with the Chinese versions.

Both the Oppo Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro feature a 6.32-inch display with a 2640 x 1216 resolution and a peak brightness of up to 3,600 nits. That should make the screens easy to view outdoors, even under strong sunlight. The standard Reno 16 supports a 120Hz refresh rate, while the Reno 16 Pro gets a smoother 144Hz refresh rate for more fluid scrolling, gaming, and animations.

Interestingly, the European Reno 16 Pro comes with a smaller display than the Chinese version, which features a larger 6.78-inch LTPO panel. Still, the global model keeps a compact premium feel while offering flagship-style brightness and smoothness.

Performance differs between the two models. The Oppo Reno 16 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset and is paired with 8GB or 12GB of RAM, depending on the market. Storage options include 256GB and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

The Oppo Reno 16 Pro steps things up with the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 Super processor, 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and either 256GB or 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The Pro model also includes a HyperCool vapor chamber, which should help keep temperatures under control during gaming, video recording, and other demanding tasks.

Camera performance is one of the biggest selling points of the Reno 16 series. The Oppo Reno 16 Pro comes with a 200MP main rear camera using a Samsung S5KHP5 sensor with optical image stabilization. It is joined by a 20MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP Samsung JN5 telephoto camera with optical image stabilization. On the front, the Pro model features a 50MP selfie camera.

The standard Oppo Reno 16 also gets a strong camera setup. It uses a 50MP Sony LYT-600 main sensor with optical image stabilization, along with the same 20MP ultrawide and 50MP telephoto cameras found on the Pro version. For selfies, it includes a 50MP front camera.

Oppo is also adding several creative camera tools to the Reno 16 series. Both phones can record video using the front and rear cameras at the same time, making them useful for vloggers, travelers, and social media creators. They can also correct tilted 4K videos by up to five degrees, helping users capture straighter footage without extra editing. Retro-style live filters are included as well for those who want a more stylized look directly from the camera app.

Battery life should be another major strength. Both the Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro are equipped with a 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery. This is slightly smaller than the batteries found in some Chinese variants, but still larger than what many competing smartphones offer in Europe. The phones support 80W SuperVooc fast charging, allowing users to top up quickly when needed.

The two models also share several premium features, including stereo speakers, an aluminum frame, dual SIM support, Bluetooth 5.4, an optical in-display fingerprint scanner, and a dedicated AI key on the left side of the device. Durability is another standout feature, with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance. That gives the Reno 16 series strong protection against splashes, submersion, and high-pressure water exposure.

Both smartphones run ColorOS 16 out of the box, giving buyers Oppo’s latest software experience with AI features, customization options, and performance improvements.

In Europe, the Oppo Reno 16 will be available in Pop White and Twilight Violet. In Germany and Austria, it will be sold in a single version with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The official price is €899, but early buyers can get it for €799 until July 31.

The Oppo Reno 16 Pro will be available in Pop White and Starlight Black. It comes in one configuration with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The regular price is €1,099, but Oppo is offering it for €899 until July 31.

Pre-orders for both phones are already open, with the official release scheduled for July 3. Oppo is also offering free gifts with purchases of either model, making the launch deal more attractive for early adopters.

With bright displays, large batteries, fast charging, strong water resistance, and advanced camera systems, the Oppo Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro look set to compete strongly in Europe’s upper mid-range smartphone market. The Reno 16 Pro, in particular, stands out with its 200MP main camera, 144Hz display, and enhanced cooling system, while the standard Reno 16 offers many of the same core features at a lower price.
