Xiaomi has expanded its Redmi Note lineup in Europe with the launch of the new Redmi Note 17 5G, bringing a large AMOLED display, long battery life, 5G connectivity, and extended software support to the mid-range smartphone market.
The European version of the Redmi Note 17 5G arrives shortly after the phone’s debut in India, but there is one key difference between the two models. The European variant packs a 7,700 mAh battery, while the Indian version comes with a slightly larger 8,000 mAh unit. Even so, the EU model still offers impressive endurance on paper, especially for users who want a phone that can comfortably last through heavy daily use.
Charging support remains the same across both versions. The Redmi Note 17 5G supports 45 W wired charging, along with 22.5 W reverse wired charging, allowing the phone to power up compatible accessories or other devices when needed.
At the heart of the Redmi Note 17 5G is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset, built on a 4 nm process. The processor is paired with up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. However, buyers should note that there is no expandable storage option, so choosing the right storage configuration from the start will be important.
On the software side, Xiaomi is offering a strong long-term support commitment. The Redmi Note 17 5G runs Android 16-based HyperOS out of the box, and the company promises four major Android OS upgrades. The camera setup is more modest than some previous Redmi Note models. The Redmi Note 17 5G includes a 50 MP rear camera and a 16 MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. However, neither camera supports 4K video recording, which may disappoint users who prioritize high-resolution video capture.
Other features include an in-display fingerprint sensor, dual speakers, an IR blaster, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, and NFC support. These additions help make the Redmi Note 17 5G a well-rounded option for buyers looking for a practical mid-range Android phone.
Xiaomi has also introduced a 4G version of the Redmi Note 17 in Europe. The Redmi Note 17 4G shares most of the same specifications as the 5G model, including the display, battery features, cameras, and design. The main difference is the chipset. Instead of the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, the 4G model uses the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 processor.
The Redmi Note 17 5G is available in three color options: celestial purple, sky teal, and black. In Europe, the 6 GB RAM and 256 GB storage version is priced at €379.90. Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 17 4G starts at €249.90 for the 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage configuration.
