Xiaomi Ends Software Support for Xiaomi 12, POCO X5, Redmi Models, and More
Xiaomi has officially moved several well-known smartphones and tablets to its End-of-Life list, bringing software support to a close for a number of Xiaomi, POCO, and Redmi devices. The change affects both premium models and popular mid-range devices, including members of the Xiaomi 12 series, POCO X5 series, and select Redmi phones.
Once a device reaches End-of-Life status, it no longer receives Android updates, HyperOS upgrades, new features, bug fixes, or future security patches. The phones and tablets will still continue to function as usual, but users should not expect any further software improvements from Xiaomi.
For many owners, this may not come as a complete surprise. Some of these devices had already received the major Android and system updates promised under Xiaomi’s software update policy. However, the end of security patches is the more important concern, especially for users who rely on their phone for banking, payments, personal data, and everyday online activity.
The latest Xiaomi devices added to the End-of-Life list include the Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Xiaomi 12S Ultra in China. Tablet users are also affected, with the Xiaomi Pad 6 and Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro in China now reaching the end of official software support.
POCO users are included in this update as well. Xiaomi has ended support for the POCO X5 5G in Turkey and the POCO X5 Pro 5G in Indonesia. While these are regional variants, the change is still important for users who own these specific models.
Several Redmi devices have also been added to the list. These include the Redmi Note 12T Pro in China, Redmi K60E in China, and Redmi 10 5G in the European Economic Area. The Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro entries cover global models as well as multiple regional versions.
If your device is on the End-of-Life list, it does not mean you need to stop using it immediately. Calls, apps, photos, browsing, and other daily functions should continue to work normally. However, the lack of future security updates means the phone may become more vulnerable over time as new security flaws are discovered.
Users who keep their phones for several years may want to start planning an upgrade, especially if security, app compatibility, and long-term performance matter. Newer Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices typically offer updated software support, better battery efficiency, improved cameras, and more recent security protections.
For now, owners of affected Xiaomi, POCO, and Redmi devices should check their current software version, install any available final updates, back up important data, and consider moving to a newer model if they want continued Android or HyperOS support.
