Amazon Quietly Upgrades the Fire HD 10 Tablet With More RAM
Amazon has quietly refreshed its Fire HD 10 tablet by introducing a new 4GB RAM model, giving buyers a slightly more capable option without launching an entirely new generation. The Fire HD 10 was last updated in 2023, and while many expected a successor by now, Amazon appears to be extending the life of the current model with this small but useful hardware upgrade.
The Fire HD 10 originally arrived with 3GB of RAM and storage choices of 32GB or 64GB. The newly added version increases memory to 4GB while keeping 32GB of built-in storage. Like the existing models, it also includes a microSD card slot, allowing users to expand storage by up to 1TB for apps, downloads, movies, books, and photos.
The new 4GB RAM Fire HD 10 is currently available in Black and is priced at $154.99 with lockscreen ads. Amazon does not appear to be offering an ad-free version of this specific configuration at checkout, but buyers can remove the ads later by paying an additional $15.
The extra RAM should make the Fire HD 10 feel smoother in everyday use. Users may notice better multitasking, faster switching between apps, and improved performance when keeping multiple apps open in the background. It may also provide a modest boost for casual gaming, especially in titles that benefit from additional memory.
The core specifications remain the same. The Amazon Fire HD 10 features a 10.1-inch display with a 1920 x 1200 resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. It is powered by a MediaTek MT7176A octa-core processor running at up to 2.0GHz. The tablet also includes a 5MP front camera and a 5MP rear camera, making it suitable for video calls, basic photos, and scanning documents.
Battery life is one of the tablet’s stronger points, with Amazon claiming up to 13 hours of use on a single charge. The device charges through USB-C and supports up to 15W charging. Other features include Bluetooth 5.3, dual-band Wi-Fi, stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a built-in microphone.
This quiet refresh does not dramatically change the Fire HD 10, but it does make the tablet more appealing for shoppers looking for an affordable large-screen tablet for streaming, reading, browsing, video calls, and light productivity. With the added 4GB RAM option, the Fire HD 10 becomes a better value for users who want a bit more performance without stepping up to a more expensive device.
