The Xiaomi 16 Ultra is set to arrive with a twist. Traditionally, the 16 Ultra would debut as the final entrant of its series, similar to its Leica-branded predecessor. However, the latest buzz suggests that this upcoming flagship might hit the shelves much sooner, giving it an edge over heavyweights like the Vivo X300 Ultra and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra with a surprise end-of-year launch.
Previously, Xiaomi began teasing its premium Android device in early 2025, following the debut of the 15 series which came hot on the heels of the Snapdragon 8 Elite platform’s launch in 2024. In a strategic shift, Xiaomi has now confirmed the successor to the 15 Ultra as early as July 2025.
This early announcement has fueled speculation that Xiaomi plans to unveil the entire 16 series—including the 16, 16 Pro, and 16 Ultra—in a single event later this year. Adding to the excitement, there’s chatter about a possible “16 Pro Max” variant boasting the largest battery yet—potentially positioning itself as the Ultra model.
If true, Xiaomi could potentially leapfrog competitors like the Vivo X300 Ultra, Oppo Find X9 Ultra, and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra by releasing its flagship in China before the year wraps up. For the global market, Xiaomi might strategically hold off until the Mobile World Congress 2026 to unveil their latest powerhouse.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi enthusiasts can still grab the Xiaomi 15 at a discounted price of $900 on Amazon.
