Xgimi has kicked off a new crowdfunding campaign in Japan for two compact home projectors: the Elfin Flip 4K and the Elfin Flip Laser. Built for people who want a big-screen experience without dedicating permanent space to a projector, both models use a clever folding design that lets them tuck neatly into tight shelves and small living areas—while still promising up to 1,600 ISO lumens of brightness. Audio is handled by integrated Harman Kardon speakers, so you’re not forced to add external speakers right away.
Laser light is a key part of what makes these models stand out. Both projectors use a Nichia QuaLas RGB laser light source, helping them deliver rich color coverage up to 110% BT2020. That matters if you care about more vivid, cinema-like color compared to typical lamp-based projectors, especially when watching movies, anime, or colorful streaming content in controlled lighting.
The two versions differ mainly in resolution, imaging hardware, zoom, and gaming performance. Both projectors run Google TV, giving you a modern smart TV-style interface for streaming apps and discovering content. They can also be used as a display for laptops, desktops, and game consoles over HDMI, so they can double as a big-screen monitor for work and play.

Pricing in Japan positions them as premium compact laser projectors. The Elfin Flip 4K carries an MSRP of 206,800 yen (about $1,290), while the Elfin Flip Laser is listed at 139,800 yen (about $890). Early backers in Japan can pre-order at significant discounts: the Elfin Flip 4K is offered at 114,800 yen (about $720), and the Elfin Flip Laser at 84,900 yen (about $530).
