Volla is expanding its lineup with the new Volla Phone Plinius series, a pair of mid-range smartphones officially labeled “Made in Germany.” While many internal parts are likely sourced internationally, the devices emphasize European production and a privacy-focused alternative to mainstream phones, with a choice of operating systems right at purchase.
At the center of both models is a large 6.67-inch OLED display designed for smooth everyday use. It delivers a 2,400 x 1,080 pixel resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate for fluid scrolling and animations, and up to 1,000 nits of brightness to improve visibility in brighter environments. The fingerprint sensor is built into the screen, keeping the front clean and modern.
Performance is handled by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300, positioning the Plinius as a capable option for daily multitasking, media, and typical app use. On the camera side, Volla equips the phone with a 64 MP main camera with an f/1.79 aperture, supported by an 8 MP ultra-wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture for wider scenes and group shots.
One of the biggest draws is software choice. Buyers can pick Volla OS (based on Android) or Ubuntu Touch, appealing to users who want more control over their device experience, a Linux-based mobile option, or a platform that better aligns with privacy-minded preferences.
Pricing and release details are already set. The Volla Phone Plinius is available to order now in an 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage configuration for €598. The Volla Phone Plinius Plus follows in June 2026, priced at €698, and upgrades to 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. The Plus model also adds a more robust back and includes pogo pins, which can be useful for accessories and docking-style add-ons.
In terms of shipping, availability is focused on Europe and the UK, as Volla currently limits delivery to those regions.
