Volkswagen Group of America has recently announced a crucial recall for 14,000 of its electric vehicles due to a potential power loss issue. This recall affects models such as the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4, as well as the 2024 to 2025 Audi Q4 E-Tron and Audi Q4 E-Tron Sportback. The root of the problem is traced to the vehicles’ 12-volt battery charger, which can lead the car to unexpectedly lose power.
According to the National Highway Transport Safety Administration (NHTSA), around 10% of the reported vehicles might be afflicted by this defect. This issue poses a significant danger as the fault can occur both when the vehicle is stationary and in motion, risking the shutdown of essential safety and accessory systems. Even more concerning is the potential for the vehicle to lose its motive power entirely, which could lead to accidents.
There have been nearly 250 complaints from drivers who have experienced these issues. As a proactive measure, Volkswagen has committed to replacing the faulty onboard charger for free. Owners of the affected vehicles are urged to get in touch with their dealerships promptly at the first sign of any related symptoms. Typical warning signs include auditory chimes, alert messages on the dashboard, and reduced functionality in the vehicle’s electric features.
Protection and safety on the road are paramount. Therefore, if you own one of these models, ensure you reach out to your dealer as soon as possible to address this potentially serious issue. Keep your vehicle running smoothly and securely with Volkswagen’s offered solution, giving you peace of mind on every journey.
