Vivo X Fold 6 teased with Dimensity 9500 Super Edition and foldable-focused OriginOS 6
Vivo is preparing to raise the stakes in the premium foldable phone market with its next flagship, the Vivo X Fold 6. The company has started sharing official details about the device, confirming one of its most important upgrades: a new Dimensity 9500 Super Edition chipset.
The upcoming Vivo X Fold 6 will move away from the Qualcomm platform used in the previous generation. The Vivo X Fold 5 launched in June 2025 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a large 6,000mAh battery, and a Zeiss-tuned triple rear camera system led by 50MP sensors. With the X Fold 6, Vivo appears to be focusing on stronger AI performance, better efficiency, and a more polished foldable software experience.
According to Vivo product manager Han Boxiao, the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition is designed to deliver improved NPU performance while reducing power consumption. That means the Vivo X Fold 6 could offer faster AI processing, smoother app handling, and better battery life during demanding tasks. The chip is also expected to improve multitasking, which is especially important for a foldable smartphone with a large inner display.
Vivo has also confirmed that the X Fold 6 will run OriginOS 6 Fold. This software version is being built specifically for foldable devices, suggesting that Vivo is working on better split-screen features, smoother app continuity between the cover and inner displays, and a more desktop-like experience for productivity users.
While Vivo has not yet revealed the full specification sheet, earlier reports suggest the X Fold 6 could bring a major camera upgrade. The device is rumored to feature a 200MP main camera along with a 50MP zoom camera. If accurate, this would make the X Fold 6 one of the most camera-focused foldable phones on the market.
Battery life may also be a major highlight. The Vivo X Fold 6 is tipped to include a massive 7,000mAh battery, which would be unusually large for a book-style foldable phone. Such a capacity could give Vivo a clear advantage over many competing foldables, especially for users who want a device that can handle gaming, video streaming, multitasking, and photography without constant charging.
The Vivo X Fold 6 is expected to launch in China in June 2026. Vivo has not yet confirmed pricing, global availability, display details, charging speed, or the complete camera setup. However, with a powerful new chipset, foldable-optimized software, a rumored 200MP camera, and a possible 7,000mAh battery, the X Fold 6 is already shaping up to be one of the most exciting foldable smartphones to watch in 2026.
