Velotric Tempo Debuts: Ultra-Light City E-Bike with Built-In Apple and Android Tracking

Velotric is growing its lineup of lightweight electric bikes with the launch of the new Velotric Tempo, a city-focused e-bike built to make daily commuting easier without the bulky feel many e-bikes come with. Designed around a 6061 triple-butted aluminum alloy frame, the Tempo keeps things impressively light at just 39 lbs (17.7 kg). Remove the battery and it drops to about 34 lbs (15.4 kg), which is especially appealing for apartment living, carrying the bike up stairs, or lifting it onto a rack.

To fit different riders and preferences, Velotric offers the Tempo in both high-step and mid-step frame options. Power comes from a 350 W inner rotor motor that produces 45 Nm of torque, with up to 650 W peak power available when you need an extra push. The detachable 374 Wh battery is designed for real-world convenience and is rated for up to 60 miles (96 km) of range on a single charge, making it a practical choice for commuting, errands, and weekend rides.

One of the standout features is Velotric’s SensorSwap system. It allows riders to switch between torque-sensing assist, which feels more responsive and natural as you pedal, and cadence-based assist for smoother, more effortless cruising. This flexibility helps the Tempo appeal to riders who want a traditional cycling feel as well as those who prefer a more relaxed ride.

Even with its lightweight build, the Velotric Tempo is packed with modern tech. It supports Apple Find My and Android Find Hub compatibility to help with tracking, and it includes NFC-based keyless unlocking for added convenience. Riders also get four riding modes, app-based controls for monitoring performance, and a 2-inch left-mounted full-color display for clear ride data at a glance. A USB-C port is included for charging essentials on the go, along with walk mode for easier handling when you’re off the saddle.

For safety and all-weather usability, the Tempo comes equipped with front and rear lights, plus IPX6 and IPX7 water resistance ratings. Stopping power is handled by Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, while Kenda 700 x 42c puncture-resistant tires are designed to better handle city streets and debris. An aluminum alloy rear mount adds everyday utility, and the bike is rated for a maximum payload of up to 330 lbs (149.6 kg).

The Velotric Tempo arrives in three distinctive colors—sunset tangerine, forest evergreen, and lightning silver—and is priced at $1,499.
