Vaio T Series Debuts in Japan With 2.5K Touchscreen, Multi-Flip Design, and Up to 64GB RAM
Vaio has officially opened orders in Japan for its new T Series laptops, a premium convertible lineup designed for users who want the flexibility of a notebook, tablet, and presentation device in one compact machine. The standout feature is Vaio’s multi-flip hinge system, which lets the 13.3-inch display rotate into multiple positions for work, entertainment, drawing, note-taking, and video calls.
The new Vaio T Series features a 13.3-inch WQXGA touchscreen with a 2560 x 1600 resolution and a productivity-friendly 16:10 aspect ratio. The panel uses Vaio’s flash surface touch display technology and comes with a glossy finish, aiming to deliver sharp visuals, vibrant colors, and smooth touch interaction. While Vaio also offers larger traditional laptops with similar resolution options, the T Series separates itself with its convertible form factor and more flexible design.
Performance options include Intel’s latest Core Ultra processors. Buyers can choose between the Intel Core Ultra 5 325 and the more powerful Intel Core Ultra 7 356H. The Core Ultra 5 325 comes with 8 cores and 8 threads, while the Core Ultra 7 356H increases that to 16 cores and 16 threads, making it the stronger option for multitasking, creative workflows, productivity apps, and heavier daily workloads.
Memory and storage options also push the Vaio T Series into premium territory. The base model includes 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a 512GB SSD. Configurations with the Core Ultra 5 325 can be upgraded to 32GB of memory, while the Core Ultra 7 356H version supports up to 64GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Storage can be configured with up to a 2TB PCIe 5.0 SSD, giving users faster file transfers, quicker app loading, and more room for large projects.
Battery life is another major focus. Vaio offers an optional high-capacity battery upgrade, which the company says can deliver around 18 hours of video playback and up to 29 hours of idle time based on JEITA 3.0 testing. This upgrade is available for an additional 11,000 yen, making it an attractive choice for professionals, students, and frequent travelers who need longer usage away from a charger.
Despite its convertible mechanism and premium hardware, the Vaio T Series remains relatively portable. It starts at about 1.253 kg, or 2.76 pounds, and measures 312 x 224.6 x 14.6–19.6 mm. Color options include Fine Black and Fine Red, giving buyers a choice between a more classic business look and a bolder, more distinctive finish.
Vaio has also equipped the T Series with features aimed at remote work and modern collaboration. The laptop includes a 9.2MP camera with an AI vision sensor, along with Windows Hello facial recognition for secure sign-in. AI-powered noise cancellation and online meeting controls are also included, helping improve video calls in busy environments. Vaio WellnessCare is scheduled to add camera-based vascular and heart-rate information from September 30, expanding the laptop’s health-focused software features.
The Vaio T Series, model VCTNN1, is now available to order through Vaio’s Japanese store. Pricing starts at 341,000 yen including tax, which is approximately $2,176. A launch promotion currently reduces the price by 33,000 yen, or about $211, and is set to run until December 1 at 9:59 a.m. Japan time. The entry-level configuration includes the Intel Core Ultra 5 325, 16GB of memory, and a 512GB standard SSD.
Additional upgrade pricing varies depending on the configuration. A fifth-generation high-speed SSD option costs 38,500 yen for 512GB, 110,000 yen for 1TB, and 198,000 yen for 2TB. The high-capacity battery adds 11,000 yen, while an English keyboard layout is available for an additional 5,500 yen.
For now, Vaio has not announced whether the new T Series will launch outside Japan. The company does sell select laptop models in other regions, but international availability for this convertible model remains unconfirmed. For users in Japan, the Vaio T Series arrives as a premium 2-in-1 laptop with a sharp 2.5K touchscreen, strong Intel Core Ultra performance, generous memory options, and a flexible multi-mode design built for both work and entertainment.
