Upcoming GPD Win 4 2024 and Updated GPD G1 eGPU to Offer Enhanced Gaming Performance

Gaming hardware enthusiasts can look forward to improved versions of the GPD Win 4 and the GPD G1 eGPU, as the manufacturer is gearing up to launch these enhanced devices. The company is known for its dedication to refining its existing product line, and these improvements are a testament to that commitment.

The upcoming Win 4 2024 is poised to follow in the footsteps of the Win Max 2, utilizing the powerful Ryzen 7 8840U APU. This unit offers elevated ‘Ryzen AI’ capabilities and has demonstrated superior performance to the Steam Deck, especially when operating at a 10 W TDP. The GPD Win 4, which debuted in late 2022 with a Ryzen 7 6800U APU, received an upgrade a few months later, featuring Ryzen 7040U APUs alongside an OCuLink connection. The 2024 model is expected to be a more modest update, yet it is slated for mass production and may hit the market by the end of the current month.

Alongside the new gaming handheld, the GPD G1 eGPU is getting its own set of improvements. While maintaining the AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT GPU, the device now incorporates a dedicated power switch and introduces a TDP rocker. This addition allows users to switch between 60 W and 100 W TDP modes, offering a balanced trade-off between power consumption and performance. When operating at 60 W TDP, the eGPU is expected to deliver around 80% of its full performance while saving up to 40% in power usage. Additionally, the refreshed G1 resolves prior HDMI port issues, now supporting 4K resolution at 120 Hz without signal interference. It will also feature enhanced 65 W USB Power Delivery capabilities.

The release schedule for the GPD Win 4 2024 and the updated GPD G1 may resemble the company’s past product launches, potentially first appearing on the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo before becoming widely available. These advancements are likely to resonate well with the community of portable gaming aficionados seeking more power-efficient and higher-performing solutions for their gaming needs.
