Upcoming Decathlon Van Rysel E-EDR CF Electric Bike Unveiled

A leak suggests that Decathlon is introducing a fresh addition to its electric bike portfolio with the Van Rysel E-EDR CF, an electric endurance road bike. The unveiling comes from a publication listing the anticipated lineup for the brand’s US releases this year. Alongside this, the roster includes several new gravel bikes under the Van Rysel name and a selection of electric mountain bikes from their Rockrider series.

The Van Rysel E-EDR CF stands out with its sophisticated combination of high-performance components and design. It’s equipped with a Mahle X20 rear-mounted motor, promising 250W power output and 55Nm of torque, which is considered potent for an electric bike in its class. The battery is seamlessly integrated into the downtube, boasting a 350Wh capacity. This is expected to provide a decent range for long rides, though the exact range has not been specified.

Focused on delivering a smooth and responsive riding experience, the bike features a 12-speed setup with a Shimano 105 R7150 Di2 rear derailleur. Rider comfort and control are enhanced with a Shimano FC R7100 crankset, and Shimano 105 hydraulic disc brakes ensure reliable stopping power. The bike’s superior handling is credited to components like the DEDA X VR Superbox Evo stem. Moreover, integrated lights add to its practicality, offering increased visibility for safer riding.

The carbon frame design not only contributes to a lighter bike but also allows for generous tire clearance, with the bike coming equipped with Hutchinson Fusion 5 Performance tires that are 700 x 25 in size. The Van Rysel E-EDR CF boasts an attractive green finish and caters to a wide range of cyclists with available sizes spanning XS to XL. Weighing approximately 27.5 lbs (around 12.5 kg), this e-bike combines lightweight construction with robust features.

The availability of the Decathlon Van Rysel E-EDR CF in the US market is anticipated for 2024, but its release in other international markets has not been confirmed. Pricing details remain under wraps, but by comparison, the non-electric version of the Van Rysel EDR CF with an Ultegra Disc Road Bike setup is retailed at $3,999/£2,999.99/€2,750. Bike enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting further information on this promising electric bike variant.

Decathlon is known for producing sports equipment and gear that caters to a wide array of activities, and the addition of the Van Rysel E-EDR CF to their lineup underscores the brand’s commitment to innovation in cycling technology.
