Krovatar KB-100X and KB-100XH portable Blu-ray players are set for an October launch
Krovatar is preparing to launch two new portable Blu-ray Disc players in October: the KB-100X and the KB-100XH. Both models are designed for users who still value physical media but want a more flexible way to enjoy Blu-ray discs, CDs, and home entertainment without being tied to a traditional living room setup.
Unlike many portable media players, the KB-100 series does not include a built-in battery. Instead, Krovatar has chosen a USB Type-C power input with USB Power Delivery support at 12 volts. This means the players can be powered by a compatible USB-C charger or even a power bank, making them more practical for travel, outdoor use, or compact entertainment setups.
According to Krovatar, a typical 37Wh power bank, often marketed as 10,000mAh at 3.7V, can provide around 4.5 hours of Blu-ray playback or up to 5 hours of CD playback. That makes the KB-100X and KB-100XH appealing options for users who want a portable Blu-ray player for movies, music, and disc-based collections without relying on a wall outlet at all times.
The KB-100X and KB-100XH share the same general design and core functionality, but the higher-end KB-100XH includes additional audio features. The H model adds a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a 4.4 mm balanced audio output. The balanced output is aimed at users who want a stronger wired audio option, particularly when using longer cables or higher-quality audio gear.
Bluetooth is also included on both models. The players can connect wirelessly to the included remote control, so users do not need to point the remote directly at the device. Bluetooth headphone support is available as well, and AptX compatibility should help deliver better wireless audio quality with supported headphones or earbuds.
Pricing for the US market is expected to start at $329 for the Krovatar KB-100X. The KB-100XH, which includes the extra headphone and balanced audio connections, is expected to cost $359. These prices do not include sales tax, which varies depending on location.
Krovatar also plans to bring the KB-100 series to Europe before the end of the year, although European pricing has not yet been confirmed. The company says the players will be offered in four colors, with the “X” in the model name changing depending on the selected color. For example, the KB-100-B or KB-100-BH is expected to represent the blue version.
The new KB-100X and KB-100XH arrive after Krovatar’s KBU-300, a stationary 4K UHD Blu-ray player that supports 4K discs and 5.1-channel SACDs. While the KB-100 series appears to be more basic in comparison, its portability, USB-C power support, Bluetooth features, and optional wired audio outputs could make it a compelling choice for Blu-ray collectors, travelers, and anyone looking for a compact disc player with modern connectivity.
