Gaming handheld enthusiasts may be eager to learn that specifications and pricing details have been divulged for ASUS’ upcoming ROG Ally gaming handheld device, dubbed the ROG Ally X. The device is set to bolster the company’s foray into the portable gaming market.
The ROG Ally X is anticipated to be offered in a single configuration, which diverges from its predecessor, the existing ROG Ally, currently retailing for around $669. It will reportedly feature the powerful Ryzen Z1 platform, already seen in devices like the Lenovo Legion Go, and particularly the ROG Ally X will boast the Ryzen Z1 Extreme. This chip is a customized version of the Ryzen 7 7840U, signifying a substantial performance enhancement for the new model.
In terms of storage, potential buyers can look forward to a substantial 1 TB SSD in the ROG Ally X, doubling the capacity found in the current ROG Ally models. The display specifications seem to match the previous version’s offerings, with the new gadget maintaining a 7-inch screen size, delivering a resolution of 1080p and a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
Aesthetically, the ROG Ally X will reportedly be available exclusively in a black finish. This design choice might not only serve to distinguish the newer model from its predecessor but could also align its appearance with competitors like the MSI Claw.
When it comes to pricing, the ROG Ally X is said to be tagged at $799 at launch, positioning it $100 above the launch price of the original ROG Ally. For the additional cost, ASUS appears to be compensating with a more robust battery, increased RAM, and several other enhancements to justify the price increase.
The latest leak gives gamers a glimpse into what ASUS has in store for the portable gaming community. With a more potent processor, ample storage, high refresh display, and improvements in battery and RAM, the ROG Ally X could capture the attention of those looking to upgrade their gaming-on-the-go experience. While these leaked specs and price points paint an exciting picture, enthusiasts will need to stay tuned for official announcements for confirmation and further details.
