The Pebble Time 2 is gearing up for its debut with an exciting new look, crafted with stainless steel on both the front and back. Eric Migicovsky, the innovative mind behind Pebble and current CEO of Core Devices, recently unveiled the smartwatch’s final design, captivating tech enthusiasts.
In a surprising twist from earlier announcements, the newly showcased Pebble Time 2 design stands apart from previous reveals. The smartwatch now boasts a sleek curved stainless steel front, offering a refined aesthetic compared to the initial concepts shown in March. The back also matches this polished look, secured with four screws, and the steel buttons are textured similarly to those on the Pebble Time Steel.
Migicovsky demonstrated a functional engineering sample, noting that while the design is locked in, the finishes are still subject to change. The watch will be available in four distinct colors, though these options are yet to be finalized. Once decided, those who pre-ordered will be able to select their preferred shade.
Beyond its stylish appearance, the Pebble Time 2 comes loaded with enhanced features. It includes an additional microphone for potential noise cancellation, a vivid multicolor RGB LED backlight, and a compass sensor. Users can look forward to a 1.5-inch 64-color e-paper touch display protected by a hardened glass lens, alongside 22mm quick release straps, heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and step tracking. Additional specs include a speaker and waterproof capabilities, although the IP rating is pending.
For those who initially pre-ordered the Pebble 2 Duo, slated to ship soon, there’s an option to switch to the Pebble Time 2. However, it’s crucial not to cancel the existing Pebble 2 Duo order to maintain queue priority. Expect to cover the price difference, with the Pebble Time 2 priced at $225 compared to the Pebble 2 Duo’s $149.
This launch promises to stir up excitement among smartwatch fans and tech lovers alike, thanks to its combination of cutting-edge features and stylish design. Keep an eye out for this game-changing entry in the wearable tech space.
