Meta is gearing up to introduce its new smart glasses, rumored to be called “Hypernova,” later this year. These innovative glasses are expected to revolutionize visual technology by showing information directly in the user’s field of vision, reminiscent of the once-buzzing Google Glass.
A recent leak offers the first glimpse of the Meta Hypernova, showcasing a design closely resembling the Meta Ray-Ban Wayfarer, but with slightly thicker temples to accommodate new components. Unlike the previous Ray-Ban models that included only cameras, microphones, and speakers, the Hypernova will feature a built-in display. This display is strategically placed in the lower right corner of the right lens.
What’s intriguing about these smart glasses is the included wristband, which acts as a remote control, boasting sensors and an adjustable design, enhancing user interaction. Meta is pricing these glasses in the range of $1,000 to $1,400, due to the advanced display technology integrated into the design.
Expected features include a range of apps such as navigation and camera functions, as well as the ability to display notifications from a linked smartphone. Users will be able to manage their glasses using touch-sensitive controls on the temples, the wristband, or through voice commands.
Looking ahead, a future version in 2027 might include displays in both lenses, promising even more immersive experiences. As Meta continues to evolve in the wearables arena, these smart glasses are poised to set new standards in technology, convenience, and style.
