Ulefone is gearing up to show off a new rugged smartphone concept at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona, starting March 2, and the early details make it a standout for anyone who wants a phone built for adventure. Called the Ulefone RugOne Xsnap 7 Pro, this prototype is the company’s first smartphone to feature a detachable action camera designed to snap on and off with a magnetic connection.
At the center of the RugOne Xsnap 7 Pro is a 6.67-inch display paired with a 1.5K resolution and a smooth 120Hz AMOLED panel. Ulefone says the phone’s screen can act as a remote monitor while you’re filming with the detachable camera, which could make it easier to frame shots when the camera is mounted somewhere else.
Performance is set to come from a MediaTek Dimensity 8400 5G chipset, positioning the phone as more than just a rugged device with novelty features. For power users and travelers, the prototype also includes a massive 9,000mAh battery, a capacity that typically appeals to buyers who spend long days away from a charger.
Camera hardware is another major focus. Alongside a 50MP main camera, Ulefone highlights a 64MP night vision camera—an attention-grabbing feature for low-light work, outdoor use, and situations where standard smartphone cameras struggle. The detachable action cam is being promoted as the key selling point, but Ulefone hasn’t clarified whether the detachable unit is the same 50MP main camera or an additional secondary camera module.
Ulefone also notes that the detachable action camera is about the size of a thumb. That detail hints at portability, but it also raises practical questions about battery life. Small action cameras often have limited runtime, so it will be worth watching whether Ulefone introduces magnetic accessories that extend recording time, potentially including mounts with external power.
A number of specs and rugged-use details are still under wraps, including whether Ulefone will offer a dedicated rugged mount system for the phone itself. Even so, the RugOne Xsnap 7 Pro is shaping up to be one of the more interesting rugged smartphone prototypes expected at MWC 2026, especially for people who want a tough handset with an action-friendly camera setup and an extra-large battery for long outings.
