Ubiquiti unveils its first SuperLink sensor with a marathon six-year battery life

Ubiquiti kicks off its SuperLink era with a long-range smart building sensor

Ubiquiti has begun shipping its first devices built for SuperLink, a new proprietary wireless protocol designed to bring smart-home style automation to large buildings and campuses. With an advertised range of up to 1.25 miles and a focus on ultra-low power use, SuperLink aims to connect sensors and alarms across warehouses, offices, hotels, and other sprawling sites without the usual mesh complexity.

The debut device is simply called the Environmental Sensor. It monitors floods, humidity, ambient light, and temperature, and can trigger alerts when thresholds are crossed. Pair it with the SuperLink siren and you get up to 110 dB of audible warning for critical events like water leaks or heat spikes.

Key details:
– SuperLink range: up to 1.25 miles (wireless, proprietary)
– Environmental Sensor: detects floods, humidity, ambient light, temperature
– Power: one CR123A battery; up to six years of battery life claimed
– Siren: up to 110 dB; current model uses PoE with a maximum draw of 5 W
– Pricing: SuperLink gateway $129; PoE siren $109; Environmental Sensor $49
– Availability: the Environmental Sensor is currently sold out for US customers in the official store at the time of writing

Ubiquiti is also lining up a steady rollout of additional SuperLink gear. A battery-powered siren that uses four CR123A cells is scheduled for November 25. On December 25, the lineup will expand with sensors for glass-break detection, door and window open/close status, and motion detection. In total, seven more SuperLink products are expected by the end of 2025.

Why it matters:
– Long-range coverage means fewer repeaters and simpler deployments across larger properties.
– Battery-friendly design supports multi-year maintenance cycles, reducing downtime and service calls.
– A single ecosystem for sensing and alerting helps centralize monitoring and response.

Early adopters can start with the gateway, PoE siren, and Environmental Sensor, then grow into the broader SuperLink ecosystem as the new devices launch over the coming months.
