Tomb Raider: Catalyst may now be targeting a 2028 release, suggesting Lara Croft’s next major adventure could arrive later than originally expected.
The possible delay was hinted at by Amazon Games chief Jeffrey Gattis during a recent interview about the company’s upcoming game lineup. While discussing future releases, Gattis mentioned that Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is planned for February 12 next year, followed by “the next one” in 2028. That comment appears to point to Tomb Raider: Catalyst, which had previously been announced with a 2027 launch window.
Tomb Raider: Catalyst was first revealed in December 2025 and is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game is expected to send Lara Croft to northern India for a brand-new adventure, though Amazon Games has not shared many details about its story, gameplay systems, or overall direction.
If the 2028 timing is accurate, fans may need to wait a little longer before seeing Lara’s next original journey. However, the delay could also give the development team more time to refine the experience, expand the world, and deliver a stronger entry in the long-running Tomb Raider series.
Before Catalyst arrives, players can look forward to Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a full reimagining of Lara Croft’s original adventure. That project is currently scheduled to launch on February 12, 2027, after previously being expected in 2026.
For now, Amazon Games has not made a formal announcement confirming a delay for Tomb Raider: Catalyst. Still, Gattis’ comments strongly suggest that the game may have shifted from 2027 to 2028, giving the franchise a longer roadmap as it prepares for Lara Croft’s next chapter.
