Thypoch Ksana 35mm f/2 Full-Frame Lens Launches as a Lightweight Leica M Option
Thypoch has introduced the Ksana 35mm f/2.0, a compact full-frame lens designed for photographers who want a lightweight manual-focus prime with a classic shooting experience. Weighing just 198 grams, the new 35mm lens is aimed at street photography, travel, everyday shooting, and anyone who prefers a small setup without giving up a bright f/2 aperture.
The Thypoch Ksana 35mm f/2.0 is available only in Leica M mount, making it a natural fit for rangefinder users. However, photographers using other mirrorless camera systems can still use the lens with the right adapter. This includes Sony E, Nikon Z, Fujifilm X, and Canon RF cameras, giving the lens wider appeal beyond Leica bodies.
Focusing is fully manual, with a minimum focusing distance of 0.5 meters. Since Leica M rangefinder coupling typically works down to 0.7 meters, the lens includes a noticeable click when focusing closer than that point. This helps users feel when they are moving out of the rangefinder-coupled focusing range and into closer focusing territory.
One of the standout features is the lens coating, which Thypoch calls Epoch Coating 84. According to the company, this coating is designed to give images a warmer, retro-inspired character. That could make the Ksana 35mm f/2.0 especially appealing to photographers who enjoy a vintage look straight out of the camera, particularly for portraits, city scenes, documentary work, and film-like digital photography.
The lens also features a 10-blade aperture, which should help produce smoother out-of-focus backgrounds and pleasing bokeh when shooting wide open or near f/2. A 39mm filter thread is included, allowing users to attach compact filters without adding much bulk to the setup.
The Thypoch Ksana 35mm f/2.0 full-frame lens is now available through the manufacturer’s online store. Pricing starts at $599 for the lens without a hood, while the version with a lens hood costs $649. Both options include front and rear lens caps. Shipping is free, although buyers should note that import taxes and customs duties are not included in the listed price.
With its lightweight body, manual-focus design, Leica M compatibility, and retro-inspired optical character, the Thypoch Ksana 35mm f/2.0 enters the market as an attractive choice for photographers looking for a compact 35mm prime lens with classic handling and modern adaptability.
