The Witcher: Legacy Crowdfunding Nears €12.8 Million Ahead of 2027 Release
The Witcher: Legacy is shaping up to be one of the biggest tabletop gaming projects in recent years, bringing the dark fantasy world of The Witcher to the table in an ambitious role-playing board game format. Designed for one to four players, the game has already raised €12.76 million through crowdfunding, placing it among the most successful campaigns ever hosted on Gamefound.
The campaign launched on November 25, 2025, after building major momentum with more than 71,000 followers before going live. Once funding opened, The Witcher: Legacy reached its initial €100,000 goal in only four minutes. By December 2025, the project had passed €10 million, and after entering its Late Pledge phase in March, total support climbed to €12,758,274, which is roughly $14.8 million.
The Witcher: Legacy is set in an earlier era of Witcher history and focuses on a large narrative campaign across Kaedwen and the Northern Kingdoms. Players will investigate the events surrounding the sacking of the School of the Wolf, making choices that shape the story across multiple sessions. Decisions are expected to have lasting consequences, affecting characters, regions, maps, cards, and future scenarios.
The game aims to capture the feeling of a full Witcher adventure through a branching campaign structure. Players can build and improve their witchers over time by upgrading attributes, refining combat decks, and expanding an alchemy book filled with potions and bombs. This progression system is designed to give each playthrough a sense of growth, strategy, and personal storytelling.
Each session is expected to last around 150 minutes, making The Witcher: Legacy a substantial tabletop experience. The main story is planned to offer nearly 50 hours of gameplay, while completionists may find more than 100 hours of total content. Once the main campaign ends, an endgame mode will unlock a sandbox-style experience intended to keep players exploring, fighting monsters, and developing their characters beyond the core storyline.
The project will also include multi-language support and a free companion app featuring professional voiceover narration. This app is intended to enhance immersion, helping bring the world, characters, and story moments to life during play.
The Witcher: Legacy is currently scheduled to begin arriving in June 2027. Backers can still join through the Late Pledge period. The standard Core Pledge is priced at €109, or about $127, while the premium Shaded edition costs €480, or around $557. The higher-tier version includes expansions, extra miniatures, additional cards, tokens, books, an artbook, and other collector-focused items.
As with any crowdfunding campaign, there is always some level of risk. Final products can change during development, shipping schedules may shift, and delivery is never absolutely guaranteed. Still, with its massive support, established fantasy setting, and deep campaign promises, The Witcher: Legacy has become one of the most anticipated tabletop RPG releases on the horizon.
