Tesla is gearing up to revolutionize the market once again with the anticipated release of its most affordable vehicle by 2025. Despite its low price point, Chief Engineer Lars Moravy assures it will uphold Tesla’s high standards. “The most difficult part of doing that is not making the cars worse, so I promise that they won’t be a massive step down from the cars we sell today,” Moravy stated, indicating the company’s commitment to quality even in its budget-friendly model.
Dubbed as Model 2 or Q, this new addition is expected to make waves primarily due to its pricing strategy. Previously, projections for the Model 2 suggested a cost of $22,000-$25,000, potentially after subsidies. With the Cybercab priced below $30,000, the Model 2 could well be the much-anticipated $25,000 Tesla that many have been waiting for.
In terms of design and specifications, the Model 2 is rumored to resemble a smaller version of the Model Y, equipped with a 54 kWh battery capable of covering a range of 250-300 miles on a single charge. Its reduced weight is expected to contribute to its efficiency. Recent sightings of a camouflaged prototype at Giga Texas have fueled speculations about this prospective vehicle.
In addition to this exciting introduction, Tesla plans to refresh its lineup with new versions of the Model S and Model X later this year. Moravy teased these upcoming facelifts, sharing that a comprehensive Tesla roster update is slated for 2025.
For now, the company is concentrating on the Model Y Juniper refresh, which will engage four Tesla Gigafactories simultaneously. Further details about the Model S/X updates or the affordable Model 2 are likely to emerge following the launch of the Juniper refresh.
Tesla continues to push boundaries, striving to deliver innovative yet accessible automotive options without compromising on quality.
