Tesla Launches MultiPass, Unlocking Effortless Charging Across Non-Tesla Networks

Tesla just made public charging a lot simpler. The company has introduced MultiPass, a new feature that lets Tesla drivers start and pay for charging sessions at non-Tesla stations using their existing Tesla account. No more juggling multiple apps, RFID cards, or separate logins—everything is handled through the Tesla app or by tapping your Tesla key card.

The feature was teased in a 17-second video on the TeslaCharging account on X and will debut in the Netherlands, with expansion to other countries planned soon.

How it works:
– Open the Tesla app to find available third-party chargers.
– Start a session directly in the app or by tapping your Tesla key card.
– View your charging history and manage payments in one place.

MultiPass removes common pain points of public charging, like waiting for physical cards to arrive or managing different accounts and payment methods for each network. While pricing at third-party stations still depends on the provider’s rates, payment is automatically processed via your default payment method in the Tesla app—so billing remains seamless and consolidated.

What to know now:
– Launch market: Netherlands first, more regions to follow.
– Payment flow: Charges are billed through the Tesla app using your saved payment method.
– Pricing: Set by the third-party charging operator, not by Tesla.
– Convenience: One app, one account, broader charging access.

For Tesla owners, MultiPass is a meaningful step toward truly frictionless EV charging, making it easier to plug in wherever you go without the usual sign-ups and extra cards. Keep an eye on your Tesla app for availability and updates as the rollout expands.
