Team17 Confirms Layoffs in Marketing and Communications Team
Team17, the well-known video game publisher behind popular titles including Worms, Overcooked, Dredge, and Hell Let Loose, has confirmed a small round of layoffs within its marketing and communications department.
The company recently carried out an internal review of its business structure, which led to changes in how the department is organized. As part of that process, Team17 confirmed that two employees were affected by the latest job cuts.
While the number of impacted staff is limited, the move comes after a much larger restructuring effort in 2023. During that earlier round of cuts, multiple departments across the company were affected, with dozens of employees reportedly losing their jobs.
Team17’s latest layoffs arrive at a time when the video game industry continues to face pressure from rising costs, shifting consumer demand, and an increasingly competitive market. Over the past year, many publishers and game studios around the world have reduced staff, delayed projects, or restructured operations in an effort to remain financially stable.
The company has not announced any additional layoffs or wider restructuring plans at this time. However, the decision shows that even established gaming companies with recognizable franchises are still navigating a challenging business environment.
Team17 remains best known for publishing a wide range of indie and multiplayer-focused games, with franchises such as Worms and Overcooked helping the company build a strong global audience. More recent releases like Dredge have also strengthened its reputation as a publisher of creative and distinctive games.
For now, the latest Team17 layoffs appear to be limited to its marketing and communications operations. Still, the news reflects the broader uncertainty facing the gaming industry as publishers continue to adjust their strategies for a changing market.
