TankRat Release Date Set for January 15, 2027 on PC and PS5
Kepler Interactive and developer Alpha Channel have officially confirmed the release date for TankRat, the revamped version of the single-player action game previously known as TankHead. The game is scheduled to launch on January 15, 2027, for Windows PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as PlayStation 5.
TankRat drops players into a brutal post-war future where humanity’s greatest city has been reduced to ash. What remains is the Event Containment Area, or ECA, a dangerous wasteland filled with ruined machinery, corrupted drones, and the decaying remnants of a once-advanced civilization. In this world, humans no longer survive in flesh and blood. Instead, they project their consciousness into mechanical bodies known as Shells, using drones and salvaged tanks to navigate a landscape where every encounter could be deadly.
Players take on the role of Whitaker, a Sleepwalker whose mind has been digitized and placed inside a hardened drone called a Needle. Built to survive the deadly conditions of the ECA, the Needle is agile, durable, and essential for exploration. But survival in TankRat is not just about speed or stealth. To endure the horrors of the Dead Zone, players must take control of powerful combat tanks, scavenge enemy wreckage, and turn destroyed machines into upgrades.
At the heart of TankRat is a loop of exploration, destruction, and customization. Players can shift between the nimble Needle and heavily armed tanks, using each form to overcome different threats and terrain. As enemies fall, their remains become valuable resources.
