Taiwan Urged to Advance Technology Exports with Aging Solutions, Says NSTC Minister

In a recent statement, Cheng-wen Wu, the Minister of Taiwan’s National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), emphasized the urgent need for Taiwan to evolve beyond its longstanding reliance on OEM (original equipment manufacturing) and ODM (original design manufacturing). He advocates for a strategic shift towards exporting complete systems, especially in sectors tied to aging-related technology, which are experiencing significant growth.

This move is seen as a crucial step for Taiwan to enhance its position in the global market. By focusing on the development and export of fully integrated systems, Taiwan can leverage its technological expertise and innovation capabilities. The aging-tech sector presents particularly promising opportunities, given the increasing demand for advanced solutions tailored to the needs of an aging population.

By advancing in this direction, Taiwan aims to not only boost its technological standing but also drive economic growth. This strategic pivot could pave the way for new partnerships and collaborations, positioning Taiwan as a leader in comprehensive system solutions on the world stage.
